When it comes to our view on the same-sex marriage vote in Australia, ELLE isn’t shy about sharing our views. And loudly, if necessary. This month, they’re launching the #ELLEIsForLove campaign in an effort to spread awareness for, and support of, marriage equality in this country—starting with a six-page portfolio in the October issue of ELLE, on sale Monday.

We called on some ELLE friends to help spread the word, and the likes of Phoebe Tonkin, Sarah Ellen, Bianca Spender, Isabella Manfredi, Teresa Palmer, Miranda Tapsell, Margaret Zhang, Zoë Foster Blake and Nicole Warne (to name a few…) answered the call—lending their time, and image, to the cause.

This month, you may see these outspoken stars on social media sharing images of themselves wearing one of six custom-made t-shirts, supplied by Bassike and OneTeaspoon and designed especially for us by artists Luke Arnold, Ollie Henderson, Miranda Skoczek, Kitty Callaghan, Just Sayin’ Gir land Bassike, alongside messages of support—and of course the #ELLEIsForLove hashtag.

Luke Evans, Teresa Palmer and Alfred Molina are in various stages of negotiations to join Chadwick Boseman in Message From the King, the action-thriller that Entertainment One and The Ink Factory are co-producing and co-financing.

Fabrice Du Welz (Alleluia) is on board to direct the project, which tells of a man from South Africa named Jacob King who descends into the Los Angeles underworld in an attempt to avenge his sister and rescue her stepson from the immoral world into which he’s been sold.

Evans will play a Beverly Hills cosmetic dentist who provides services both legal and illegal and offers to help King find his sister (don’t take his help, Boseman!). Palmer will play a mother who turns tricks to support both her drug habit and 6-year-old daughter. Molina will play a Hollywood producer who has underworld connections and may or may not know where the stepson is.

The movie, with a budget under the $10 million mark, is eyeing a March shoot in the City of Angels.

Knight of Cups joins this year’s line-up at the Berlin Film Festival (More Info)

Rick is a slave to the Hollywood system. He is addicted to success but simultaneously despairs at the emptiness of his life. He is at home in a world of illusions but seeks real life. Like the tarot card of the title, Rick is easily bored and needs outside stimulation. But the Knight of Cups is also an artist, a romantic and an adventurer.

In Terrence Malick’s seventh film a gliding camera once again accompanies a tormented hero on his search for meaning. Once again a voiceover is laid over images which also seek their own authenticity. And once again Malick seems to put the world out of joint. His symphonic flow of images contrasts cold, functional architecture with the ageless beauty of nature. Rick’s internal monologue coalesces with the voices of the women who cross his path, women who represent different principles in life: while one lives in the real world, the other embodies beauty and sensuality. Which path will Rick choose? In the city of angels and the desert that surrounds it, will he find his own way?

“You eventually realize that it’s the reality of Hollywood. There are peaks and valleys in every career, and I feel like I’ve been through both. It can only make you stronger.”
Teresa Palmer

It can’t be argued that Australian men are having a bit of a moment in Hollywood — just ask actors like Ryan Kwanten or the Hemsworth brothers, tapped to play roles that America’s slender man-boys can’t quite muster up the strength for — but what of the Australian actresses who’ll follow in the footsteps of Nicole Kidman or Naomi Watts? Enter Teresa Palmer. The 24-year-old Adelaide native has appeared in productions like December Boys and Bedtime Stories, but things are about to ramp up considerably; next month, she’ll be seen as Jay Baruchel’s love interest in The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, then she’s primed for a big action moment in the alien adventure I Am Number Four, where she’ll star alongside other rising stars like Alex Pettyfer and Glee’s Dianna Agron.

Palmer called up Movieline last week to chat about the crazy training regimen she’s currently undertaking for Number Four, the big movie she swears she isn’t actually attached to (no matter what IMDb says), and how the swerves of her early career have made her stronger.

Teresa Palmer is to play a leading role in George Miller’s hugely anticipated fourth Mad Max film Fury Road after her co-star in The Sorcerer’s Apprentice spilt the beans in Los Angeles.

Palmer’s Sydney agency Shanahan’s would not comment on the casting yesterday, nor would production house Kennedy Miller.

But actor Jay Baruchel told reporters interviewing him for the new Dreamworks film How To Train Your Dragon that Palmer, who splits her time between Australia and Hollywood, was preparing for a gruelling shoot on the new Mad Max episode.

“She gets to work with him, and she’s (going to be) doing Mad Max 4 with Miller,” Baruchel said.

The actor, who counts Palmer as a very good friend after working with her on the Sorcerer film, said he didn’t know the character’s exact name, but believed it was the female lead.

“She’s the main chick in Fury Road,” he said.

She has returned to Oz for the GQ Man Of The Year awards tonight, but Teresa Palmer is “not available” for eligible bachelors on the prowl.

Any lads with their sights set on the Bedtime Stories star should take note that Palmer is, firstly, on a no-alcohol detox and, secondly, has a new boyfriend.

Chatting with Confidential yesterday after touching down from Los Angeles, she admitted there was a new man on the scene after her break-up with Topher Grace and that she has had to part with her favourite foods – such as seafood pizza – and go vegan for 30 days.

“I’m 11 days in and it’s going not too bad, but after eating whatever I wanted in New York for six months I’ve had to re-evaluate,” she said.
