A Discovery of Witches is rounding out its coven. The fantasy television adaptation released a slew of names in its latest round of casting announcements last week. Producers made the announcement via the series’ Instagram page.

The most recognizable name in the bunch is likely Louise Brealey, who became a fan favorite on BBC’s Sherlock as the lovelorn Molly Hooper. Brealey will take on the role of Gillian Chamberlain, a witch who resents Diana Bishop’s resistance to embracing the Oxford coven.

Owen Teale will portray Peter Knox, a power-hungry witch who threatens Diana when she discovers a long-lost manuscript in Oxford’s Bodleian Library. Teale is trading in one fantasy series for another, having recently portrayed the treasonous Master-at-Arms Alliser Thorne on Game of Thrones.

For fans of the series, the casting of Marcus Whitmore — vampire Matthew’s adopted son and lab assistant — has been one of the most highly anticipated bits of news. Relative newcomer Edward Bluemel, who will be seen shortly on Ovation’s The Halcyon, will step into the vampire’s shoes.

Author Deborah Harkness recently told EW she’s been hearing Bluemel’s voice in her head as she writes the next book in the best-selling All Souls series. “The person who I have heard creeping more into my attention is the person who’s playing Marcus because I’m spending so much more time with Marcus,” she said. “I hear it with a slightly different inflection than I might have previously and that’s just a lot of fun.

Scottish actor Greg McHugh will portray Hamish Osborne, daemon and loyal confidante of Matthew Clairmont. Aisling Loftus (War and Peace) will take on the role of Sophie Norman, a pregnant daemon who ends up playing a crucial role in the centuries-old intrigue of the All Souls trilogy.

Miriam Shepherd, the prickly vampire and Matthew Clairmont’s lab assistant, will be played by Aiysha Hart (Atlantis).

Malin Buska (Satu Järvinen), Trevor Eve (Gerbert D’Aurillac), Gregg Chillin (Domenico Michele), Dustin Demri-Burns (Sean), David Newman (Stephen), Adam Stevenson (James), Sadie Shimmin (Head of Faculty), and Michael Culkin (Professor Marsh) round out Monday’s casting announcement.

In August, Bad Wolf Television and Sky Original Productions revealed their first major casting news for the series with the announcement that Matthew Goode and Teresa Palmer would portray central characters, Matthew Clairmont and Diana Bishop.

Here’s a message from our Teresa Palmer as Diana…

“It begins with absence and desire.
It begins with blood and fear.
It begins with a discovery of witches.”

SO EXCITED to finally be able to announce that I will be playing the heroine Diana in the tv adaption of Deborah Harkness beloved fantasy novel series “A Discovery of Witches”. To the fans of the series; thank you for entrusting me with your beloved Diana. I adore this dynamic, intelligent, complex and brave woman she is the ultimate warrior. A strong female character and a great role model. A big thanks also to Sky1, NOW TV and Bad Wolf. More broadcasting and global network announcements to be made. Now everyone get reading the #AllSoulsTrilogy “just because something seems impossible doesn’t make it untrue” #Adiscoveryofwitches @adiscoveryofwitchestv

The cast are currently filming at St Donat’s Castle in Wales.

Australian actress Teresa Palmer will bring the inspirational story of Michelle Payne to life in the movie about the champion jockey. She returns to Australia from her new home in the UK to take the lead role of the first woman to win the race which stops the nation in Ride Like A Girl.

It will be an all-star cast with Sam Neill to play Payne’s father Paddy while Jacki Weaver will take on Payne’s manager Joan Sadler. Never one to be shy with her opinions, Palmer took to social media this morning with a passionate post revealing her place in the movie.

“Michelle was always warned she could never be a world-class jockey. She was not tough enough. She was not a man. Then she won the 2015 Melbourne Cup, one of the most prestigious horse races in the world,” Palmer said.

“Thrilled that I’ll be playing Michelle Payne in Ride Like A Girl directed by Rachel Griffiths. Starring alongside the amazing Aussie talents of Sam Neill & Jacki Weaver.”

The jockey herself has given Palmer the thumbs up.

“Couldn’t be happier with the choice in you @teresapalmer; I loved the script, very excited for the times ahead,” Payne wrote on her social media.
