Luke Evans, Teresa Palmer and Alfred Molina are in various stages of negotiations to join Chadwick Boseman in Message From the King, the action-thriller that Entertainment One and The Ink Factory are co-producing and co-financing.

Fabrice Du Welz (Alleluia) is on board to direct the project, which tells of a man from South Africa named Jacob King who descends into the Los Angeles underworld in an attempt to avenge his sister and rescue her stepson from the immoral world into which he’s been sold.

Evans will play a Beverly Hills cosmetic dentist who provides services both legal and illegal and offers to help King find his sister (don’t take his help, Boseman!). Palmer will play a mother who turns tricks to support both her drug habit and 6-year-old daughter. Molina will play a Hollywood producer who has underworld connections and may or may not know where the stepson is.

The movie, with a budget under the $10 million mark, is eyeing a March shoot in the City of Angels.

Marvel is assembling a field of actresses invited to test for the lead of the company’s straight-to-series drama Jessica Jones for Netflix. I hear it includes Krysten Ritter, Alexandra Daddario, Teresa Palmer and Jessica De Gouw. All fall within the 25-33 age range listed on the breakdowns for the role.

Spearheaded by Melissa Rosenberg, the 13-episode drama — the second in a four-series Netflix-Marvel deal — centers on Jessica Jones, a superhero suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, which leads to her hanging up her costume and opening her own detective agency, where she ends up helping people and assisting other superheroes.

A couple of weeks ago we saw some candids of Teresa filming on the beach with her new brunette locks. Now we get to see the end product… The 28-year-old mother of one is the new face of Paspaley Pearls – the largest and oldest pearl company in Australia.

The clip which is a trailer for a short story written by award-winning author Anna Funder in a cross-promotion for the jewellery company.

Recently 30 nude photos of herself with ex Scott Speedman were leaked as part of a mass celebrity hacking scandal, Teresa Palmer was seen projecting Hollywood glamour in a pearl advertisement.

She recently dyed her blonde hair brunette and it just may be that Teresa Palmer has made some other modifications to her appearance.

The actress showed off what appeared to be some new ink as she posed for a picture on a clifftop in Italy on Monday. Covering her entire right tricep, the design looked to be a flock of birds in flight, and it is unknown if the etching is a real tattoo or merely just a fake.

Teresa’s husband Mark Webber was the one who captured the image of his wife, posting it to Instagram and writing in an accompanying caption: ‘This is now how I get high. Atop the Dolomites in Italy. Thanks Love @tez_palmer ‘

The actress is filming two movies at the moment – the remake of Point Break, in which she plays the female lead of Tyler, and crime drama Triple Nine – so perhaps the inking belongs to one of her characters.

While Teresa is thought to have no other etchings on her body, her husband Mark has several and the actor and director recently added to the collection, having his son Bodhi Rain’s name tattooed on his arm.

The Melbourne International Film Festival (MIFF) is delighted to announce that the MIFF Premiere Fund co-financed Cut Snake will be 2014’s MIFF Centrepiece Gala event on Saturday 9 August.

Also, MIFF’s newly-launched regional travelling festival the MIFF Premiere Showcase will host the Australian premiere of Kill Me Three Times.

Cut Snake is a sexy crime drama set in mid-70s suburban Australia from Matchbox Pictures’ Tony Ayres (Home Song Stories, Walking On Water, The Slap) and is produced by Trevor Blainey (Noise) and Michael McMahon (Home Song Stories, Lou, The Slap). Cut Snake tells the story of Sparra Farrell (Alex Russell), a young man trying to escape his past and make a life for himself in a new city. He finds honest work and becomes engaged to the beautiful Paula (Jessica De Gouw). But when the charismatic and dangerous Pommie (Sullivan Stapleton) tracks him down Sparra finds himself drawn back into a world that he had tried to leave behind.

Introduced in 2012, Centrepiece Gala is a celebration both of local filmmaking and of the festival’s halfway point; it is a red-carpet occasion comprising a world premiere screening and an official after party. The MIFF Centrepiece occurs at Hoyts Melbourne Central on Saturday 9 August and tickets are now on sale at www.miff.com.au

Kill Me Three Times, a thriller directed by Kriv Stenders (Red Dog) starring Simon Pegg (Shaun of the Dead), Sullivan Stapleton (Animal Kingdom), Alice Braga (On the Road), Teresa Palmer, Callan Mulvey, Luke Hemsworth and Bryan Brown, now moves to play exclusively for MIFF during the Festival’s re-launched travelling film festival – the MIFF Premiere Showcase. New funding from the State Government has enabled the return of a MIFF travelling film festival after an absence of six years. More details about the MIFF Premiere Showcase, including towns, venues and dates of screenings, will be announced in due course. For more information, keep an eye on www.miff.com.au/premiereshowcase

If you’ve ever wondered what a Hollywood starlet would wear on Melbourne Cup day, you’ll soon have a chance to find out.

Mum-to-be Teresa Palmer will jet back into Adelaide to appear as a special guest at the Little Heroes Melbourne Cup lunch at the National Wine Centre on November 5.

But she won’t be sipping any celebratory champagne – the actress recently announced her pregnancy to film director fiance Mark Webber.

Last week she was snapped hitting the shops with mother Paula Sanders in LA while tweeting for suggestions for “a very earthy, organic, hippie baby clothing line.”

During a visit here earlier in the year both Teresa and Mark talked about their desire to grow their family and a possible move back to Adelaide.

Also appearing at the Melbourne Cup lunch will be The Voice’s Sarah Lloyd.

She’s gorgeous, talented, successful and what every Hollywood actress wishes she was: young.

But the Australian star of The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, Teresa Palmer, says being 24 years old in Tinseltown isn’t as easy as it might sound.

“It’s a weird age to be in Hollywood. I feel like I’m falling between the cracks a little bit,” Palmer said.

“I’m too old to be playing high school, but I’m too young to be playing opposite Matt Damon and Leonardo DiCaprio.

“There aren’t a lot of movie star males around my age that I can play opposite. I can only think of Shia LaBeouf. I’m maybe a little old for Zac Efron.”

In I Am Number Four, an action sci-fi she just finished shooting, Palmer says she felt so self-conscious playing a teenager she asked for her character to be older.

“I felt so silly playing a 17-year-old … we ended up aging her up to 22,” she says.

Palmer concedes that Hollywood isn’t easy for any actress at any age, but she still thinks if she was either older or younger she’d be working more.

“I’m still only doing about one film a year and I’d love to be doing film, film, film, film, film,” she says.

It’s hard to imagine that Palmer thinks she isn’t working hard enough.

In a short career, the Adelaide actress has already starred with Daniel (Harry Potter) Radcliffe as every teen boy’s dream in December Boys, Sarah Michelle Gellar as an American brat in The Grudge 2, Adam Sandler as a fair maiden in Bedtime Stories and now Nicolas Cage and Jay Baruchel in magical adventure film The Sorcerer’s Apprentice.

In the soon-to-be released Kids in America, she plays the beauty Topher Grace’s character lusts after and in I Am Number Four, she plays a “tough alien chick in head-to-toe black leather who rides a Ducati motorbike and kicks butt”.
